Description

HyperDrink 45 is a high-quality isotonic sports drink with an ideal composition of carbohydrates and sodium, essential nutrients for improving performance during both long-duration and high-intensity training and competitions.

  • Provides 45 g of carbohydrates in 500 ml of water
  • Maltodextrin and fructose mix in a 1:0.8 ratio
  • Extra sodium (sea salt) 235 mg
  • Instant and translucent dissolution, no sediment
  • Maximum absorption and digestibility
How to use

How to use: First fill a bottle with 500 ml of water. Then pour the contents of the sachet and shake well until dissolved. Use a bottle with a capacity of 600 ml or more, due to the increase in volume produced when adding the product. With these instructions for use we obtain a solution of: Osmolarity: 278 mOsmol/liter of solution; Osmolality: 295 mOsmol/kilogram of solvent and a pH of 4,94. Professional advice: If the environment is very hot and / or humid: To maintain proper hydration is also necessary an extra supply of salts, so it is recommended to take about 1 capsule of PRO Salt Caps every 60 minutes (1 h) of physical activity.

About HyperDrink 45 (1:0,8), High carbohydrate isotonic drink

High-Carbohydrate ISOTONIC Drink with Extra Sodium

HyperDrink 45 is a high-quality isotonic sports drink with an ideal composition of carbohydrates and sodium, essential nutrients for improving performance during both long-duration and high-intensity training and competitions. A single 500 ml serving provides 45 g of carbohydrates and an extra dose of sodium (approx. 235 mg).

  • Provides 45 g of carbohydrates in 500 ml of water
  • Maltodextrin and fructose mix in a 1:0.8 ratio
  • Extra sodium (sea salt) 235 mg
  • Instant and translucent dissolution, no sediment
  • Maximum absorption and digestibility
  • Suitable for vegans and allergen-free

HyperDrink 45 contains the ideal mix of maltodextrin and fructose in a 1.25:1 ratio (commonly known as 1:0.8), which is scientifically supported. Research shows that during prolonged exercise, using carbohydrates absorbed via different intestinal transporters (SLGT-1 and GLUT) is the only way to increase the absorption and oxidation rate of exogenous carbohydrates above 60 g/hour (Currell, K. et al., MSSE. 2008; Earnest, C.P. et al., JSCR. 2004). The ideal combination is a glucose source (maltodextrin) with fructose.

Why combine them in a 1.25:1 (1:0.8) ratio instead of the classic 2:1 or others?

Recent studies have shown that this ratio achieves maximum exogenous carbohydrate oxidation, i.e., the highest energy efficiency from consumed carbs. This is crucial when consuming a high carbohydrate load in a small liquid volume (40 g / 500 ml) to ensure most of it (74% efficiency) is used for energy production without causing gastrointestinal discomfort (Rowlands, D.S. et al., SM. 2015).

Why use maltodextrin as the glucose source and not another?

According to current scientific literature, maltodextrin appears to be the best option for efficiently using exogenous glucose, especially when high carbohydrate intake is needed in small volumes. It provides superior oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates compared to other sources like cyclodextrin (Cluster Dextrin®) or isomaltulose (Palatinose®). Although cyclodextrin is osmotically appealing for reducing gastrointestinal discomfort, it lacks scientific evidence of better energy efficiency. Isomaltulose is a glucose-fructose source and not purely glucose-based, and studies show it has lower energy efficiency (41% less vs. sucrose) (Achten, J. et al., JN. 2007), meaning part of it isn’t used for energy production—counterproductive in a sports context.

Maltodextrin vs glucose

Beyond its high energy efficiency, maltodextrin has a better osmotic profile due to its larger molecule size, lowering the osmolality of the mix and reducing gastrointestinal distress during intense exercise (Rowlands, D.S. et al., SM. 2022). In summary, both glucose and maltodextrin are equally efficient energetically, but maltodextrin is better tolerated. Additionally, for organoleptic reasons, maltodextrin has a neutral taste, unlike the sweetness of glucose, which was not desired here.

To conclude on the chosen carbohydrates: For high-carb products consumed during exercise, the top priorities are energy efficiency and minimal gastrointestinal issues. This is only achieved by combining maltodextrin and fructose in a 1.25:1 ratio (commonly 1:0.8) (Rowlands, D.S. et al., SM. 2022). To complete the formula, we’ve added sodium (Na) via sea salt. Sodium is the most important electrolyte lost in sweat and is essential for hydration during exercise (Panel NDA. EFSA Journal. 2011). The quantity added is within the optimal range for enhanced water and carb absorption in the intestine (Shi, X. et al., IJSNEM. 2010; O'Brien, W.J. & Rowlands, D.S., AJPGLP. 2011).

Perfect dissolution!

Many high-carb drinks on the market struggle with solubility, resulting in unstable mixtures over time. We’ve been meticulous with this and, after testing the best raw materials, created a product that dissolves perfectly into a translucent and stable beverage within one minute. It stays stable for hours or even days. Once dissolved, it looks like water!

Neutral taste!

For maximum energy efficiency and minimal gastrointestinal impact, we developed a high-purity, flavorless product. It only has a faint sweetness from the fructose. It contains no flavorings, preservatives, sweeteners, colorants, or any other additives.
