The effects of caffeine supplementation in endurance sports are widely accepted. Intake of 6 mg/kg of caffeine 45 minutes before competition has been shown to increase performance. In a recent study of Olympic-distance triathletes, the time of the swim decreased by almost 4% and that of the total event by 1,3%.
