Who Lives Longer?

An ambitious study published in 2017 compared mortality and health-related habits among 900 athletes who represented Finland between 1920 and 1965 at the Olympic Games, European Championships or World Championships with those of their brothers.
The study concluded that former elite athletes had up to 4 additional years of life expectancy and healthier habits. These findings reinforce the conclusion that a healthy lifestyle and good aerobic fitness help reduce mortality.
